Playful dominance and surrender using Shibari
Are you curious about being able to surrender and let your partner take the lead?
Or would you like to guide your partner to let go of control, while you take the lead?
We will use Shibari (Japanese rope bondage) to explore playing with each other.
It will be intimate and fun; at times exciting. And always adapted to your own desires and boundaries.
This is an ideal workshop to explore Play, Trust and Surrender.
What to expect?
During this workshop, your partner and you will be guided through exercises, to learn how to safely explore playing with dominance and surrender. How to lead and to follow. Playfulness is key in this workshop. So it's not all serious and tough. You get a lot of room to experiment with what you like and what works for you two. There is lots of room to try out, to talk, to reflect and to discover more about your partner, yourself and your relationship.
The workshop as a place to experiment and learn
To explore this material, it's important to have a pleasant vibe in the room. So we all feel safe and relaxed enough to try things out. Butterfly is a skilled guide for a workshop container like this, since she's trained as a trauma informed psychosomatic sex therapist. Together we will create a group atmosphere that gives up the possibility to explore Trust and Surrender.
Playing with power is never about force. It is always about connection, and the desires and boundaries of both people involved.
We will explore different methods for convincing another person to give away control and how to use rope as a tool for doing so. We will also look into the dynamics between two partners.
Some examples of the things we will explore:
Current power dynamics between your partner and you, and wishes for future power dynamics to be explored.
Our genuine desires, and using those as a tool to reward, ignore, acknowledge, (playfully) punish and cherish someone.
How to lead and follow by using our physical bodies, with and without rope as a tool.
Reading the body and its cues, coming from the conscious as well as the subconscious.
Working with trust and being responsible and caring.
Who is this workshop for?
If you're able to tie a few knots, you know enough to join. This workshop is suitable for people who like rope bondage and might be interested in playing with dominance and surrender. You need only some basic knowledge of tying or being tied. The focus will be on how to explore power dynamics, and we won’t dive into Shibari technique at all.
Atmosphere of the workshop
Butterfly makes an effort to be an inclusive teacher. No matter your age, gender, orientation, body type, experience level - everyone is welcome. She understands you might be nervous or excited taking part in a workshop like this. So at the start of the workshop we will create a safer space together, in the group. Usually, people feel really safe and relaxed within the first hour. So even when you're hesitant, come and join us!

What others say about this workshop
"I liked the workshop 'Playing with power and surrender' very much. It was a good mix of educational demonstration and opportunity to practice. The exercises really made me think about what “power play” means to me. I learned a lot: about myself. But furthermore, we had a lot of fun."
- Alexander (47) from Berlin
"It was an intense and liberating workshop for me and my partner. We dove deep into our relationship dynamic, and became more aware of patterns. Through this playful workshop format, we were able to explore and experiment with our desires. We laughed and cried...literally. I'm very grateful for the teachers to help us become more playful and personally I feel more empowered in the intimate part of our relationship."
