Shibari Level 2 workshop: Takate Kote & Hogtie combo
Do you already know basic Shibari techniques? During this full workshop day we will dive into Shibari Classics. This is a ‘level 2’ workshop. Our focus will be on technical skills. And on traditional Shibari positions.
A special day: you will learn 3 Classic Shibari positions
Japanese bondage (shibari) is beautiful to see and intense to experience. During this full workshop day we will dive into the Japanese tradition of rope bondage: Shibari. Specifically, we will dive into some classic bondages.
You will learn new ways to tie your partner up: several ways to combine bondages on the torso and legs. So that your partner ends up completely tied up. In a sitting or a lying down position.
First - Box-tie: the classic upper body harness with hands in the back (‘Takate Kote’).
Second - Shrimp tie: legs tied to the upper body, sitting cross legged (‘Ebi’)
Third - Hogtie: legs tied to the upper body, while lying on the belly (‘Gyaku Ebi’)

10:30-11:00 Arrival and landing time
11:00-14:00 First workshop: ‘Takate Kote’
14:00-15:30 Lunch time (free to go outside)
15:30-17:30 Second workshop: ‘Ebi and Gyaku Ebi’
‘Takate Kote’ (Box tie) workshop
This is such a classic and iconic Shibari harness!
Arms folded to the back, tied into the torso. It looks beautiful and is extremely functional. It forms the foundation of many other shapes and positions in rope play. It forms a safe body position, restrained and yet relaxing.
To make this body position sustainable, we adjust the harness to each specific body and its possibilities and limitations. So any body type is welcome, as long as you can cross your lower arms behind your back.
We always adjust the bondages to the possibilities and limitations to your specific body.
‘Ebi’ (Shrimp) and ‘Gyaku Ebi’ (Hogtie) workshop
Let’s create some iconic Shibari body positions!
We will focus on bondages for the entire body. We will connect the upper body and lower body. We will go through 2 classic positions:
Ebi position
A crossed legged position Shibari bondage, also called the Shrimp position.
The upper body in a ‘takate kote’: arms behind the back (like you learn in the morning). Sitting with the legs crossed, bending over. The upper body is tied to the legs.
Gyaku Ebi position
A ‘hogtie’ bondage, also called Reverse Shrimp position.Again, the upper body in a ‘takate kote’. Lying on your belly. Ankles tied together, connected to the back of the upper body harness.
We always adjust the bondages to the possibilities and limitations to your specific body.

What others say about Butterfly’s workshops
Didi (48):
“Butterfly is a household name in the Dutch Shibari scene - and beyond. And this is reflected in the quality of her workshops. It doesn't matter whether you have a lot of experience or have never had rope in your hands before, she challenges you at just the right level. The atmosphere was lovely. Learned an awful lot in one day, and went home completely satisfied. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to get to know Shibari in the right way.”
